All adults are welcome, no matter their previous drawing or painting experience. Beginner and Intermediate Level. I offer intermediate options to those who would like them.
Join my workshop to learn and increase your watercolor painting skills. Watercolor is relaxing and a great way to become more observant, creative and mindful. Located at Dabble Seattle! A creative space in the heart of Greenwood. We meet once a week either on Monday evening.
I am an illustrator, artist, designer and educator who loves to inspire others to be creative.
I will teach you how to mix your own color, values, technique, tools, process, rendering styles, lighting and composition to develop your confidence in watercolor painting.
Part 1: Paint a color wheel using the three modern primary colors. You will have time to practice drawing and apply your color mixing skills. I will demonstrate how to work with watercolor paint to develop your palette. Intermediate level: Values study or Simultaneous contrast study.
Part 2: Practice techniques, wet in wet and glazing. Play and experiment to get comfortable with watercolor effects. I will demonstrate the painting process and give one on one help. You will choose from an array of in season plants to paint. Intermediate options.
Part 3: Learn about lighting and form, use layering techniques and neutrals to create highlight, mid tone and shadow to create three dimensional paintings.
Part 4: Composition and background color, use your new skills to create a cohesive painting.
In the all day class the morning and early afternoon we focus on color and technique, and progress to lighting and composition.
Cost: $200
I will provide professional level paint, paper and a simple palette. Minimal supply investment of around $20 for brush and a suggestion to purchase a travel palette to hold your paint.
